BIG CHANGES for Meghan & Harry

SEEKING A QUIET PLACE TO RAISE THEIR BABY, THE EXPECTANT PARENTS WILL LEAVE LONDON

- — Louise A. Barile

He used to be a party boy, but the bright lights of London hold little appeal for Prince Harry today. The fatherto-be, 34, and his bride, Meghan Markle, 37, announced their plans to make Frogmore Cottage, a mansion located on the Windsor Castle estate, approximately 25 miles outside of London, their new home. “It’s set in a delightful location, safe and secure — away from prying eyes — and lots of space to bring up a family,” says royals expert Dickie Arbiter.

Since their 2017 engagement, the couple have resided at Kensington Palace in the two-bedroom apartment where Prince William and Kate Middleton once lived. “They could’ve easily remained at Kensington Palace and moved into a bigger pad,” notes a royals insider. “But at Frogmore they’ll have more freedom.”

Relocating to Frogmore Cottage also has sentimental value.

It’s where Meghan and Harry’s engagement photographs were taken and where Prince Charles threw their lavish wedding reception last May.

The home has been used as a royal retreat since the 1790s, but it has recently housed palace staff. Before Harry and Meghan move in next year, it will be remodeled into a modern five-bedroom home with a nursery and space for Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, to visit. Security will also be enhanced, as the house is currently only guarded by a small fence and a sign which says “private.” In moving to Frogmore Cottage, the couple hope to find solitude without abandoning the royal family. The queen spends most of her weekends at Windsor Castle, just half a mile south of Frogmore Cottage, so it will be easy to visit. Harry will also maintain his office at Kensington Palace, allowing him opportunities to catch up with his brother, Will.
