PHOTOGRAPHER MARTIN MILLS CAPTURED CELEBS IN THEIR MOST CASUAL MOMENTS

-

The photographer had a knack for capturing stars like Dean Martin, Bette Davis and John Wayne in their most unguarded moments.

Martin Mills didn’t set out to be a photographer. A music publisher, he picked up a camera when he joined his wife, actress Edie Adams, on the Venice, Calif., set of the 1967 film The Honey Pot. He found he had a flair for catching stars in relaxed moments and shot for TV Guide, Sports Illustrated and other mags. “He didn’t feel weird around celebrities, and that made them comfortable,” says son Josh Mills, who’s gathered his dad’s pics on the new website MartinMillsPhotography.com. Here are some of the best. — Bruce Fretts

a TV Guide story on what
Hollywood stars’ lives are like at home,”
says Josh. “Supposedly,
Bewitched was offered to my mom first, and she turned
it down, so Elizabeth got
the part.”
