How Fans’ Prayers Are Helping Me Battle Cancer

Answer: Who are Jeopardy! fans? “People all over America have been sharing their good thoughts, their advice, their prayers, and I feel it’s been making a difference,” Alex, 78, told fellow cancer survivor Robin Roberts on Good Morning America May 1. The game-show host appeared healthy in his first live TV interview since revealing his diagnosis in early March and shared how he’s doing. “I’m fighting through it,” he said. “My platelets, blood counts and weight are steady — my oncologist says I’m doing well, though I don’t always feel it.” The toughest part is chemotherapy, which brings “surges of deep, deep sadness and tears,” he said, but people are helping him rebound from that. “I’ve had many contacts from people who have survived cancer,” he said. “I’m now a 30-day survivor, and I’m going to catch up to those other people.
