CHEESESTEA­K NACHOS

2 tbsp. unsalted butter 2 large yellow onions, peeled and diced 1 lb. shaved steak 1 cup Cheez Whiz 1 bag (12 oz.) tortilla chips 11⁄2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 1⁄2 cup pickled peppers slices

1. Melt butter in a large pan over mediumhigh. Add onions; cook until deep brown, about 30 min. Remove and set aside.

2. Turn heat to high and add steak. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring often and using spatulas to break up the meat, until browned and cooked, about 10 min. Remove from heat.

3. Preheat broiler to high with a rack about 4˝ from heat. Gently warm Cheez Whiz in a small saucepan over low or in a bowl in the microwave.

4. Arrange chips on a sheet pan, overlappin­g as little as possible. Sprinkle cheese evenly on chips. Next add steak, then onions, then pickled peppers. Drizzle Cheez Whiz over all. Broil 3 to 5 min. Watch carefully to make sure they don’t burn. Remove from the oven. Serve hot.
