Bringing Walter Mosley’s 2010 novel The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey to the screen was a personal quest for actor Samuel L. Jackson, who bought the rights to the book a decade ago. “Alzheimer’s has been a big part of my family life — my grandfather, my uncle, my aunt, my mom, my grandma,” reflected Samuel, who plays a man stricken with the disease in the miniseries. “I’ve watched them become different people over the years. [So it] fits into the real-life chronology of my life in terms of honoring all those people in my life who had Alzheimer’s.”
