Ozzie and Harriet Nelson played versions of themselves raising their real-life sons, Ricky and David, on their long-running TV series. In their happy 1950s home, the biggest troubles were modest ones — like how to get a neighbor to return a rake he’d borrowed. In another, Harriet enthused over her new dishwasher. “I always say,” she tells the audience, “there is nothing like a dishwasher to keep a home a happy one.”
