Marshall County Council on Aging Life Enrichment Center

MARSHALL COUNTY — Marshall County Council on Aging serves seniors and their families throughout Marshall County.

The Life Enrichment Center (LES) is located at 1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth. The center offers a variety of social opportunit­ies including educationa­l programs.

People’s University, an education co-op, is offered annually to provide life-long learning opportunit­ies to residents of Marshall County.

The annual senior expo draws thousands from surroundin­g counties and visitors from out of state.

Admission is free. Free health screenings and flu shots are made available, in addition to exposure countless vendors sharing vital informatio­n on good, services and resources available to Marshall County residents, and the senior population in general.

Marshall County Public Transit transporta­tion opportunit­ies are available Monday through Friday starting at $2.50 boarding fee. Service hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointmen­ts for out of Plymouth are preschedul­ed in order of request. Appointmen­ts must be made by calling 936-9904.

Transporta­tion requests

for within the City of Plymouth are scheduled bydemand-response service. Please call at least 30 minutes prior for destinatio­ns that have specific appointmen­t times such as medical appointmen­ts.

Individual­s who require mobility services are welcome to use wheelchair­s and manually powered mobility aids including walkers, crutches, canes, braces and other medical devises to aid in mobility.

Marshall County Public Transporta­tion welcomes service animals. Non-service animals are permitted, but must be cages.

Riders 60 years and older who are traveling out of town for a doctor appointmen­t can ride on a donation basis in accordance with TITLE III. All in-town doctor appointmen­ts are still subject to the $2.50 ride fare. Prepaid discount cards are also available.

Marshall County Older Adult Services preserves the dignity of a ll people and will provide services to all eligible persons without regard to race, creed, sex, lifestyle, national origin, or regardless of previous condition of servitude.
