Dr. Mark A. Couts, O.D.: Optometrist and Community Visionary
CULVER — Dr. Mark A. Couts, O.D., board certified optometrist, of Family Vision Clinic in Culver, is not only a business professional, but a community leader, volunteer and visionary.
Dr. Couts earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at Indiana University in 1976. He began Optometry School at Indiana University in 1979 and graduated with his Doctorate in 1982.
Dr. Couts practiced Optometry at the United States Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina for three years. He spent an additional seven years in the naval reserves. He is a member of the Indiana Optometric Association of America and Board Certified on the American Board of Optometry.
Dr. Couts moved to Culver in 1985 where he began his private practice and continues today.
Dr. Couts assists the Culver Lions Club with the yearly vision screenings for preschool aged children within the Culver Community School Corporation to identify the need for prescription vision correction or other vision related impairments.
Dr. Couts has years of experience detecting and treating ocular impairments. Undetected ocular impairments have a negative impact on the learning process for children forming the foundation of their academic career.
Dr. Couts and his wife Linda were recognized by the Culver Lions Club in 2018 as the recipients of the annual “Citizen of the Year Award.” Dr. Couts was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2019 by the Culver Chamber of Commerce.
Family Vision Clinic offers thorough eye exams, insurance billing and special vision testing. The office accepts VSP, Eyemed, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Family Vision Clinic welcomes new patients. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday they are open from 11 a.m. to 7. p.m. Contact lenses and a large selection of frames are available to purchase.
