KIMBER MICRO 9
Kimber knows a thing or two about producing 1911 pistols, and the Micro 9 borrows many design elements from John Moses Browning’s original. For starters, its single-action design offers a crisp trigger pull, and the grip angle is comfortable and handles recoil effectively for very fast follow-up shots. The aluminum frame is lightweight but durable, and the barrel is made from machined stainless steel.
The Micro 9 comes with a set of excellent black steel sights with the rear dovetailed to the frame and the front sight pinned. The finish on the various models is durable enough to withstand the abuses of daily carry.
Weighing in at just 15.6 ounces unloaded, the Kimber is one of the lightest guns on the list, but the rather rounded grip design and the beavertail make shooting this gun comfortable and pleasant. Standard magazine capacity is six rounds, but there’s a seven-round magazine available as an optional accessory. For a light single-action semi-auto, this is a superb carry option that’s built to Kimber’s high standards.
