Peggy A. Moales
July 27, 1946- May 29, 2018
Peggy Ann Simpson was born to the late Thomas and Hazel Lou Smith Simpson in Piedmont, South Carolina. She was born on born July 27, 1946, the second of four siblings. In the early 1940’ s, Peggy’s father and four of his siblings migrated to Connecticut with hopes of making a better life for their families.
Peggy was educated in the Bridgeport Public School System and graduated from Bassick High School in 1965. On May 26, 2015, she received an Associate Degree from Housatonic Community College and was a candidate for a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Education. Peggy was hired by SNET in August of 1965 and later became a Business Representative before retiring in 1995. While at SNET, Peggy received numerous awards and citations for being the top Representative in Sales from 1989- 1992 and again in 1994. She was always setting the tone as a high business achiever and had the distinct privilege of being a member of the Division Managers Club.
At the age of 21, Co- Founder Lady Moales, a woman of integrity, leadership and excellence, married Kenneth H. Moales, Sr., now, the Late Bishop Kenneth H. Moales, Sr., Pastor and Founder of The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, formerly the Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love, Inc. She had spent forty- three years of her life working very diligently beside her husband to build lives, homes and relationships. The last 7 ½ years “Queen Mother” continued to faithfully serve in ministry supporting her son, Overseer Kenneth Moales, Jr. and the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit family.
One Sunday while preaching Co- Founder emphatically stated “I may not be able to sing but I can build cathedrals and change lives.” Lady Peggy is known throughout this country as a church builder. Her work ethics never changed. She often said

Lady Peggy Moales is the Co- Founder and Vice- President of the former ( Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love Corporation), now the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. She has dedicated her entire life to ministry. Over the years, Peggy has been a surrogate mother to many and was called “Shepherd Mother” as has opened her doors and provided housing and counsel for several young men and women. She was a source of strength and support for those in prison. Peggy has fed the hungry, helped the sick and provided clothing for many and has been known to ring door bells between 12: 00 - 1: 00 a. m. with a pot of hot, homemade soup.
She has organized and chaired many fund raisers. Her church was birthed from a handful of young people and she has watched God add almost 1200 souls to the ministry. Peggy served on the Project Build Committee for the new edifice – Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, which was an $ 11 million dollar project that houses the new 1500 seat sanctuary, school for 200 students, and forthcoming in Phase Two, a bowling alley, swimming pool, and a dining facility for 500 people.
Lady Moales’ second career began shortly after retirement when in 1999, she accepted the challenge to oversee her church’s daycare facility with eleven children and two employees. As Chief Operating Officer of the Educational Department, she has watched Kingdom’s Little Ones Daycare grow from two children to accommodate eighty - children in three locations which are N. A. E. Y. C Accredited and helped to birth their own Christian Elementary School, Love Christian Academy with almost 80 students.
Lady Peggy Moales’ other affiliations include membership in: The Bridgeport Interde- nominational Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows Association ( President Emeritus), The Connecticut State Interdenominational Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows Association ( Former State President), The International Association of Minister’s Wives and Minister’s Widows, Inc. ( Former Chairman of Finance and former Auditor), The Greater Bridgeport Club of National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. ( Membership Chairperson), The Links Incorporated - Milford Connecticut Chapter ( Former Corresponding Secretary) and served on as a Board Member of The National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, where her husband served as National President until his untimely death.
Peggy has been the recipient of numerous awards: International Association of Minister’s Wives and Ministers Widows, Inc. “Distinguished Service Award Chair of Finance”, the Minister’s Wife of the Year award, Ombudswoman Award and the prestigious National Sojourner Truth Meritorious Service Award; both from the Greater Bridgeport NANPBW Clubs, Inc. and the Fairfield County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. “Dr. Dorothy Height “Living With a Purpose” Award, just to name a few.
Lady Peggy A. Moales has been invited to speak to several bodies of Christ throughout the United States including the beautiful island of Bermuda. In 2010, she traveled to South Africa with her Presiding Prelate Bishop Hezekiah Walker of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ and had her first experience in foreign mission work. She went bearing great gifts for the elementary school sponsored by Kunjalo Love Fellowship Tabernacle in Capetown, South Africa. She often talked about that lifetime experience in South Africa.
Her full- time ministry was in helping her son complete the vision of her late husband and working diligently as caretaker of his legacy. Peggy created a library in his honor and renamed the former Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love the “Bishop Moales Fine Arts Center” and established the Bishop Kenneth H. Moales Sr. Scholarship Fund.
She was also an entrepreneur. A woman of many hats, she found time to pursue her passion and manage her own business, Peggy’s Millinery & Boutique, specializing in Couture Designers in millinery and fine dressing for ladies and an International personal shopper for leading ladies across the country.
Co- Founder was grateful to God for the privilege of raising some of the leaders of today. She enjoyed traveling and shopping, but her greatest joys were times spent with her family as she loved the roles of Mother, Grandmother and Great Grand Mother.
Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, three children; Kenya ( Shawn), Kenneth Jr. ( Ena) and Kenee ( Rashid) all of Bridgeport, CT, Sisters: Sheltry Ward of East Orange, NJ, Shelia Simpson of Bridgeport, CT, 13 Grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren.
