Basil Eugene Dikovsky
Basil Eugene Dikovsky, age 91, of Shelton entered into rest on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the CT VA Healthcare System with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 30 years to Nancy ( Nabors) Dikovsky. Mr. Dikovsky was born in Prague, Czech Republic, son of the late Eugene and Nadezda ( Vopichkova) Dikovsky and was a lifelong Shelton resident. He proudly served with the U. S. Navy. Mr. Dikovsky received his Horticulture Bachelor’s Degree at UCONN and was known for his gardens and Bonsai Trees. He owned and operated The Dikovsky Poultry and Egg farm in Shelton for many years until his retirement. Mr. Dikovsky was a member of the Harmony Grange # 92 and The American Legion John H. Collins Post
# 24 in Derby. He is the beloved father of Laura Smith and her husband Ed, Hope VItko and her husband Lawrence, Rick Mazzadra, and Richard Chuma and his wife Kristen, stepfather of, Melissa Helmer and Karen Whitely and her husband Patrick. He is the loving brother of Nina Shevzov. Mr. Dikovsky is the loving grandfather of Lawrence Vitko III, Benjamin Vitko, Erin Chuma, James Mazzadra, Daniel Chuma, Lia Mazzadra, Joseph Mazzadra, Louis DiPiro, Sage Edwards and the late Robert Bombardier. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on the Hospice Wing at the VA Healthcare Systems for their care and compassion for Mr. Dikovsky. Friends may call on Monday from 5: 00 - 7: 00 p. m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Tuesday, his funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11: 00 a. m. His burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
