Margaret Kabel

-

Margaret Kabel, age 65 of Fairfield, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Gibson, Margaret was the eldest of six siblings. Margaret immigrated to the United States in 1973 to marry Peter Kabel, her beloved husband of 45 years, whom she met in Glasgow while he was stationed onboard a U. S. Navy ship in Holy Loch, Scotland. She remained a citizen of the United Kingdom and enjoyed returning to Scotland to visit her family whenever possible.

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was at the center of her life and her two grandsons were her pride and joy; she adored spending time with them and showering them with love and attention. She was a strong and hard- working woman. Prior to retiring she worked at Walgreens in Westport for 38 years. Margaret enjoyed the beach, spending time outdoors, cooking and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed simple pleasures— feeding and watching the birds, playing cards and sitting by a fire on a cool summer night.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Scott Kabel and his wife, Michele of Southport; her cherished grandchildren, Oliver and Henry; her three brothers, William “Jr.” Gibson, Edward Gibson, Ian Gibson, all of Scotland, her sisters Elizabeth Blinstrub of Germany and Pauline Hunter of Scotland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Margaret’s family would like to thank the entire staff at DaVita Kidney Care, in Fairfield, for their compassionate care over the past three years.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. Interment to be announced. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 1,2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
