Marx, Andrew C. ( Charles), 86, beloved husband and father, passed away at home in Chatham MA on July 26, 2018 of congestive heart failure. He was born on August 6, 1931 in Baltimore MD, the eldest son of nine children born to Elizabeth Coulter Marx and Andrew C. Marx Sr. He attended Loyola High School and Loyola College in Baltimore where he received a B. S. in Accounting. He completed an MBA in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bridgeport and was a certified public accountant.

After completing his studies he served four years as an officer in the U. S. Navy. While stationed in Bridgeport, CT, he met and married his wife, the former Sheila Greaney in November 1958. Together they raised a family of four children in Trumbull, CT where they were active members of the community for 40 years before retiring to Chatham where they had spent many happy summer days.

He began his career as an accountant in the manufactur­ing industry, a field he worked in his entire career. He became Chief Financial Officer of Consolidat­ed Controls Corporatio­n and Unimation Robotics, the world’s first industrial robotics company. Later, he served as Vice President of Times Fiber Communicat­ions and retired as Executive Vice President of Waring Products.

He enjoyed more than 20 happy years in Chatham where he was an active member of the Monomoy Yacht Club, the Chatham Retired Men’s Club and the Chatham Newcomers Club. He served on the Board of Chatham’s “Art of Charity”, was an avid patron of the Eldredge Public Library and supporter of the Chatham Anglers. As a transplant­ed Baltimorea­n he grew to love life in the small seaside village, enjoying all the pastimes on the water that the Cape has to offer. He was dedicated to his parish community in Trumbull at St. Theresa and in Chatham at Holy Redeemer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother and uncle, immensely proud of his family, and happiest when surrounded by his family and friends.

He leaves his wife Sheila ( Greaney) Marx of Chatham, Marybeth Marx ( Eric Whittall, Boyd and Ian Whittall of Guilford CT), Ellen Marx Zeyen ( Christoph, Oscar and Lucas Zeyen) of Chatham, Maura Marx of Boston and Andrew C. Marx III ( Randy) of Somerville MA, six siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation hours Thursday August 2 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Nickerson Funeral Home ( 87 Crowell Rd, Chatham, MA) and Funeral Mass Friday August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church ( 44 Highland Avenue, Chatham, MA).
