Colin M. McGrath, age 21, of Lake Ariel, PA, formerly of Fairfield, beloved son of Michael and Betsy McGrath, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018. Born in New London, Colin was raised in Fairfield. He attended Stratfield School and Roger Ludlowe Middle School, and graduated from Fairfield Warde High School. Colin had many interests throughout his life. From a young age, he enjoyed working with computers. He honed his I. T. skills in school and was employed as a tech specialist for a number of years. He also loved cooking, was an accomplish­ed chef, and was recently employed in Pennsylvan­ia as a cook. Colin loved music of all kinds and started playing the violin at age 5 at the Suzuki Music School of Westport. He proudly performed with Suzuki at both Carnegie and Avery Fisher Halls in New York City. Colin performed in school orchestras from grade 3 through high school and was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra. When not playing the violin, he loved to play the electric guitar. He created original music and musical arrangemen­ts, and did sound recording and engineerin­g with other musicians in PA.

Colin was an accomplish­ed fisherman and was equally happy catching anything from trout to small sharks. He also loved animals of all kinds, had many pets throughout his life, and worked in a pet store while living in Florida. In addition to his loving and devoted parents, Michael and Betsy, Colin is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly, along with all the friends he made in CT, PA, and FL. Friends may call Monday, August 6, from 4- 8 p. m. in the Spear- Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 7, at 11: 00 a. m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 146 Main Street, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
