Las Vegas Aces at Connecticut Sun

- — Jim Fuller

When: Sunday, 3 p. m.

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville TV: NBC Sports Boston

About the Aces: Rookie of the Year frontrunner A’ja Wilson has a chance to become the fifth rookie to finish in the top five in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, joining former UConn star Breanna Stewart in 2016, Candace Parker in 2008, Yolanda Griffith in 1999 and Lisa Leslie in the inaugural 1997 campaign. ... Las Vegas is 6- 3 with former UConn star Moriah Jefferson in the lineup and 6- 11 without her. ... The Aces pulled within a game of the Sun for the final playoff spot before Connecticut’s current three- game win streak. A win by Connecticut, which currently holds down the No. 6 spot in the standings, would put the Sun 31⁄ games ahead of the Aces.

About the Sun: Jonquel Jones is averaging 19.7 points during the three- game winning streak and is shooting 67 percent from the field including 50 percent from 3- point range. She could match the franchise record with her third straight 20- point game, set by Shannon Johnson when the team played in Orlando and matched by Nykesha Sales, Tina Charles and Alex Bentley ... The Sun have already set a franchise mark with nine different 20- point scorers this season. Chiney Ogwumike ( 5), Jones ( 4), Courtney Williams ( 3), Jasmine Thomas ( 2) and Morgan Tuck

( 2) have multiple 20- point games.

Honoring cancer survivors: The Sun will honor breast cancer survivors, including the mother of Jasmine Thomas. The uniforms the team is wearing on Sunday and Aug. 12 against Chicago will be among the items being auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Norma Pfriem Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital with three locations in Fairfield County.
