John “Jack” Kraemer

John “Jack” Kraemer, age 96, of Shelton, entered into rest peacefully at home on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Jack was born in Shelton on June 19, 1922, the son of the late George M. and Theresa ( Kempf) Kraemer. Jack was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Eleanor ( Booth) Kraemer. He is the devoted father of Kathy Horton ( Tim) and Laurie DeRuosi. Jack worked for Southern New England Telephone Company starting as a lineman and finishing his career as a foreman of installati­on in 1982. He was a World War II Army Veteran. A member of the 41st Tank Battalion, he was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and received the Military Order of the Purple Heart from General George S. Patton, Commander of the 7th Army. Jack was a man of many talents. He was Mr. Fix It around the house; enjoyed building in his woodworkin­g shop and enjoyed working outdoors. If you couldn’t find Jack at home, you could look for him at the firehouse where he was a dedicated member of Huntington Fire Company 3 for 69 years. He served many roles in the fire department including Captain ( 1956, 1973- 1974) and Fire Commission­er. Above all, he was a loyal family man. Jack was the anchor, always there for his family and ready to lend a helping hand. He was their hero. Jack was thrilled to be around his grandchild­ren, Mark Kutis ( Stephanie), Ryan Dillon ( Kaitlin), Michael Horton ( Michelle), Jenna Stavola ( John), Sarah Rouslin ( Jason) and great- grandchild­ren, Reagan, Dylan, Jackson and Ryleigh Kutis, Ayden Scinto, Kaylin Couto, Sophie and Zoe Horton, Owen and Quinn Stavola and James Rouslin who always brought a smile to his face. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten by his family and friends. Jack was predecease­d by his son, Ronald Kraemer and brothers George and Kenneth Kraemer. Friends may call on Wednesday August 22, from

4 to 7 p. m. at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton. His funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday August 23, directly at St. Paul Church, 25 Church St. Shelton.
