Back to the ’ 70s

The popular Newtown 1970s band, Panacea, is having a reunion Labor Day weekend. This is the third year members of the band are coming from around the country to perform a benefit for Newtown’s FAITH Pantry. The four members of Panacea — Corky Ballard, Leslie Ballard, Rick Kuhn and Jon Dodson — played countless clubs, proms and dances and won a statewide Battle of the Bands in 1971. The members of the group went their separate ways years ago, but have been returning in recent summers for fundraisers. Dickinson Memorial Park, 50 Elm Drive, Newtown. Sunday, Sept. 2 at 4 p. m. Vincent Pastore, a star of screen and theater, will be a special guest at a comedy revue in Westport this month. Hosted by Treehouse Comedy, the evening brings together Pastore, Goumba Johnny Sialiano and Regina DeCicco.
