Joseph J. Michalak Jr., 63, entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2018, at Griffin Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Claire Ford Michalak. Joe was born in Derby on July 3, 1955, son of Jean Lombardi Michalak of Shelton and the late Joseph J. Michalak Sr. He was employed as a millwright at the former Ansonia Copper & Brass for thirty- three years and later as a caretaker at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton until his retirement in 2017. Joe enjoyed collecting rocks and minerals and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife Claire, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Joseph J. Michalak III of Oxford and James S. Michalak and his fiancée Lauren Shortell of Ansonia, a brother, Lawrence M. Michalak and his wife Loreen of Shelton, mother- in- law, Elizabeth H. Ford of Stratford and several brothers and sistersin- law and nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may greet the family on Tuesday September 4,2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the SPINELLI- RICCIUTI/ BEDNAR- OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, his funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m .( please meet directly) at St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial.
