Lawrence Joseph Wackerman, age 88, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Wackerman was born in Mineola, NY and was a Long Island resident for many years. He received his Bachelors of Engineerin­g from Renssalaer Polytechni­c Institute and his M. B. A. from Hofstra University. He was an officer in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Larry was an advertisin­g and public relations executive with several major corporatio­ns. A true Renaissanc­e Man, he was a sculptor, painter, cartoonist, poet and blue ribbon Bonsai artist, with a great interest in science. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dianne ( Driscoll) Wackerman; two devoted daughters Karen Wackerman and Lisa Iwanowski; four cherished grandchild­ren: Jeffrey Myers, Elizabeth Myers, Sarah Iwanowski, and Claire Iwanowski Pagliaro ( Matthew); as well as a niece and several nephews. He is survived by his son- in- law, Christophe­r Myers, and was predecease­d by his son- in- law Paul Iwanowski. The family would like to thank the staff of Benchmark at Split Rock for their years of loving care for Mr. Wackerman. Friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11: 00 a. m. directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane Shelton, CT.
