James F. Bucci, Jr.

James Francis ( Jim) Bucci, Jr., age 79 of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Ludlowe Center for Health, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on March 21, 1939, he was the son of the late James F. and Josephine ( Testo) Bucci. James graduated Fairfield Prep High School and went on to receive a degree from Columbia University School of Pharmacy. He was a pharmacist at several local pharmacies before opening Bucci’s Pharmacy on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport where he served his customers with outstanding care and compassion. James was known for his big heart and his affinity for good- natured teasing and banter, which he practiced on family, friends, customers and most recently his health aids and nurses. He was also a passionate sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the NY Giants and NY Yankees.

James is survived by his children; daughter Cheryl ( Rob) Card, sons Greg Bucci and Jim ( Barb) Bucci whom he shared with former spouse, Elaine D’Amore, grandsons; Jimmy and Brian Bucci, sisters; Annette ( Chuck) Simko and Rose ( Robert) Dressler, brothers; Robert ( Jacki) Bucci and Thomas ( Karen) Bucci, and aunt, Jean ( Testo) Schneider. He is also survived by his former spouse, Joyce Drew. He will be missed by a close- knit group of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 3: 00 p. m. to 6: 00 p. m. in the Parente- Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. A Funeral Service will take place at 5: 00 p. m. in the funeral home with Rev. Norman Guilbert officiating. Interment will be private.
