Nellie Dobek, age 97, of Derby entered into rest on Thursday November 1, 2018 at Bishop Wicke Health and Rehab Center. Nellie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dobek. She was born in Mahanoy City, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances ( Cusack) Wabo. Nellie worked as an assembler for Penn Keystone for many years before retiring to take on her most cherished career of watching her two grandsons. She enjoyed watching TV, especially Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud. She also liked watching the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. But her most important program was the daily Mass at 10 o’clock which she watched with her beloved cat, Jeter. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances Castiello and her husband, Tom, of Orange and Jo- Ann Dobek of Derby. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Thomas Castiello and his wife, Colette, from West Haven and Michael Castiello and his wife, Kim, from Milford. Her great- grandsons, Cole and Owen Castiello, visited her often and always brought a smile to her face. Nellie’s sisters are Helen Shamus of Barnesvill­e, PA, Emily Salamon of Carlstadt, NJ, and Theresa Fraser of Clifton, NJ. She is also survived by her brother- in- law, Stanley Dobek and his wife, Dottie, from Woodridge, NJ and sisters- in- law, Donna Dobek and Jane Dobek from Derby as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Griffin Hospital and Bishop Wicke Health Center for their support, their loving care, and their compassion as they treated Miss Nellie during these past few weeks.

Everyone is invited to attend Nellie’s Mass of Christian Burial directly at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave. Derby, on Thursday November 8 at 11 a. m. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons can be made to St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave. Derby CT 06418. The Edward F.
