Dolores ( Dolly) Pot­tern Collings

Dolores ( Dolly) Pot­tern Collings, 69, passed away peace­fully on Oc­to­ber 31, 2018 with her hus­band by her side. Dolly served many years as a vol­un­teer fi refi ghter in Shel­ton with Pine Rock Park Fire Com­pany 4. As the As­sis­tant Chief of Fire Pre­ven­tion in Shel­ton she trav­eled to lo­cal schools teach­ing fi re pre­ven­tion and years later be­came a fi re safety in­spec­tor for the town. Dolly also vol­un­teered much of her time at the Plumb Me­mo­rial Li­brary in Shel­ton as­sist­ing the “Friends of the Shel­ton Li­braries” with book sales and other li­brary fundraisers. Dur­ing her 44 years liv­ing in Shel­ton she was an ac­tive mem­ber of many com­mu­nity or­ga­ni­za­tions. She leaves be­hind her lov­ing hus­band David, her son Paul, son and daugh­ter- in­law Peter and Michelle, son and daugh­ter- in- law Craig and Clau­dia, as well as 7 grand­chil­dren, Cameron, Madi­son, Aus­ton, Julia, Mi­caela, Dana, and Sofi a. Pre- de­ceased by her el­dest sis­ter, Bar­bara Jack­son, she also leaves her three re­main­ing sib­lings, Don­ald Pot­tern, Les­lie Pot­tern, and Shirley Wil­son as well as her nephew, and many nieces and their chil­dren. Pri­vate ser­vices will be held for the fam­ily. In lieu of fl ow­ers, please make donations in her name to Pine Rock Park Fire Com­pany or Plumb Me­mo­rial Li­brary both in Shel­ton CT.
