Catherine “Cathy” Barto Meyer, 59, of Nantucket Island, Easton, CT and Bequia, West Indies peacefully passed away on October 21, 2018. She succumbed to her courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on September 6, 1959 to Norma and Robert Barto, her childhood was spent in CT and NJ. She graduated Cornell University where she became family to her Delta Gamma sisters and made countless friends. Cathy was a Public Relations executive at Saatchi & Saatchi, Earle Palmer Brown, ADT and her own firm, CB Communicat­ions. She founded the Battered Women’s Program for ADT and introduced it nationwide. She was president of the Black Rock and Easton Garden Clubs and was a member of the Bequia Sailing Club. She travelled the world extensivel­y with friends, her late husband, Jack and spent her last years sailing and racing the Caribbean and New England with her companion Eric on Zulu. They lived in Nantucket and Bequia. Cathy’s infectious laughter, beautiful smile and ability to live life to its fullest will be her greatest legacy. Cathy loved cats, chickens, gardens, and many crafts. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence John “Jack” Meyer. She is survived by her parents, Norma and Bob Barto, her companion, Eric John- son, her uncle, Charles Moss and many others who adored her and her puppy, “Oscar Meyer Johnson.” Services will be held Saturday, November, 10, 2018, 11 a. m. at First Church of Christ in Redding, CT.
