She moved to Cape Cod in 1992, from Ansonia, CT, after retiring from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT in 1991, after a 25 year career in the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Helen was previously employed as a munitions worker at Remington Arms in Bridgeport during World War and was later employed by PhilGas/ Suburban Propane in Derby, CT. Helen was born in Shelton, CT, where she lived most of her childhood and adult years.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Joseph Finer, three brothers, Joseph, William, and Edward Finer and niece and nephew Elizabeth and Peter Goumas. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Goumas, of Shelton, CT, nieces and nephews, Christine Goumas Seymour, Mark Goumas ( Gwen), Douglas Goumas ( Beth) and Gregg Goumas, William and Michael Finer ( Eileen), and Judith Finer. She also played an vital role in the lives of her grand- nieces and nephews; Elizabeth Seymour Campany, Taylor, Connor, and Cameron Seymour, Alexandra Goumas Feldman and Faith Goumas, Gabriella, Alexa, Nicole and Eli Goumas.

Although Helen often displayed a tough exterior, family meant everything to her, and she was kind and generous to those she loved! From a very young age, without ever graduating from high school, she worked her way up the ranks to become an accomplished businesswoman. Helen enjoyed sharing much of this hard- earned success, with nieces and nephews, to help them to follow their passions to achieve their life long goals.

Our family would like to thank the staff and employees at Wingate at Brewster, as well as those at HopeHealth Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion, and helping to make the final year of Helen’s life meaningful and memorable.
