Loretta E. Pizzella

Loretta E. Pizzella, 86, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Apple Rehab in Guilford. Loretta was born October 16, 1932; she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary DiMella Pizzella of Hartford, CT and the sister of the late Nicholas A. Pizzella who passed at the age of 39. She is survived by her long time dear and loving partner Patricia Coffey of Clinton, CT. Her brother’s children; nephews, Dr. Paul F. Pizzella ( Marta), Marc P. Pizzella ( Rachael) and niece Erica A. Graham ( Phillip). Her sister in law Fredrica NixonStrusa ( Anthony) and her great nephews Ethan, Nicholas and niece Tessa of Amherst, NY and many close and dear cousins and friends which she held dear for her lifetime. She was a longtime resident of Fairfield, CT and Clinton, CT and spent time in her Florida residence as well.
She was a graduate of Dean College and Connecticut State University and taught as a Physical Education teacher at McMann H. S. in Norwalk, CT and Stamford Catholic H. S. in Stamford, CT.
Loretta’s grandfather was the original founder of the First and Last Tavern in Hartford, CT and the family owned and operated that for over 30 years. Loretta was an avid golfer, swimmer and boater and of course everyone will remember her abilities with her tap dancing shoes. She will be remembered as a loving, kind and generous aunt, sister in law, companion, cousin and friend to all and her presence will not be forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 29 at 11: 00 a. m. in St. Mary of Visitation Church, 54 Grove St. Clinton CT. Burial will be private. For online condolences, please visit www. swanfh. com
