Stephen W. Venezia, age 94, of Bridge­port and for­merly of Fair­field, the de­voted hus­band of the late Loleet Emma Venezia, passed away peace­fully in Fair­field on Fri­day, Novem­ber 23, 2018.

Born in Brook­lyn, NY, Mr. Venezia was a U. S. Army vet­eran of World War II. Prior to his re­tire­ment, he worked as a Man­ager for sev­eral com­pa­nies in­clud­ing Burndy Corp. in Nor­walk, the Singer Com­pany, Bigelow Tea and for Gar­ity Com­pany.

Mr. Venezia loved his fam­ily and was de­voted to his wife. He en­joyed Ital­ian opera, trav­el­ling, bowl­ing and sports, es­pe­cially base­ball. He was de­pend­able, hard­work­ing and never missed a day of work. Stephen en­joyed play­ing cards, cook­ing and be­ing a jokester. He coached lit­tle league base­ball for many years with the neigh­bor­hood boys in­clud­ing his son Wil­liam.

Dad loved his cars and taught his youngest daugh­ter how to fix them. His fam­ily loved when Dad made pizza on Sun­day nights and his al­most fa­mous pan­cakes.

He was a tra­di­tional, pas­sion­ate, strong man with high in­tegrity. He will be sadly missed.

Mr. Venezia is sur­vived by his two de­voted daugh­ters, Stephanie V. Carl­son of Da­mas- cus, PA and Diana V. Flynn and her hus­band, Skip of Pleas­ant Gar­den, NC; his brother, Ralph Venezia of Fair­field; his daugh­ter- in- law, Lynn Venezia of Strat­ford; his grand­daugh­ter, Sheri Carl­son of Bridge­port and one great- grand­son, An­to­nio Gio­vani DeSan­tis. In ad­di­tion to his wife, he was pre­de­ceased by his son, Wil­liam R. Venezia and his two broth­ers, Wil­liam and Joseph Venezia.

Friends are in­vited to at­tend his fu­neral ser­vice on Mon­day, Novem­ber 26, 2018 at 12 noon with Pas­tor Gay­lord Lemke of­fi­ci­at­ing at the Shaugh­nessey Banks Fu­neral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fair­field. Vis­i­ta­tion will take place from 10: 00 a. m. un­til the time of the ser­vice. In­ter­ment fol­low­ing the ser­vice in Gate of Heaven Ceme­tery, Trum­bull with full Mil­i­tary Hon­ors.
