Stephen W. Venezia, age 94, of Bridgeport and formerly of Fairfield, the devoted husband of the late Loleet Emma Venezia, passed away peacefully in Fairfield on Friday, November 23, 2018.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Venezia was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Manager for several companies including Burndy Corp. in Norwalk, the Singer Company, Bigelow Tea and for Garity Company.

Mr. Venezia loved his family and was devoted to his wife. He enjoyed Italian opera, travelling, bowling and sports, especially baseball. He was dependable, hardworkin­g and never missed a day of work. Stephen enjoyed playing cards, cooking and being a jokester. He coached little league baseball for many years with the neighborho­od boys including his son William.

Dad loved his cars and taught his youngest daughter how to fix them. His family loved when Dad made pizza on Sunday nights and his almost famous pancakes.

He was a traditiona­l, passionate, strong man with high integrity. He will be sadly missed.

Mr. Venezia is survived by his two devoted daughters, Stephanie V. Carlson of Damas- cus, PA and Diana V. Flynn and her husband, Skip of Pleasant Garden, NC; his brother, Ralph Venezia of Fairfield; his daughter- in- law, Lynn Venezia of Stratford; his granddaugh­ter, Sheri Carlson of Bridgeport and one great- grandson, Antonio Giovani DeSantis. In addition to his wife, he was predecease­d by his son, William R. Venezia and his two brothers, William and Joseph Venezia.

Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 12 noon with Pastor Gaylord Lemke officiatin­g at the Shaughness­ey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. Visitation will take place from 10: 00 a. m. until the time of the service. Interment following the service in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull with full Military Honors.
