Ma­jor crash on Route 25 closed high­way

Caused de­lays for 3 hours

De­tails re­gard­ing a ma­jor crash on Route 25 Satur­day af­ter­noon were scarce later Satur­day evening.

The crash, which the Con­necti­cut Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion in­di­cated was a rollover, hap­pened around 3: 30 p. m. on Route 25 north be­tween Exit 9 and Route 111. Right away, re­ports in­di­cated there were in­juries in­volved and pos­si­bly ex­tri­ca­tion needed.

Roughly two hours later, there were re­ports of stop and go traf­fic, caus­ing de­lays up to half an hour, on Route 25 north.

Just be­fore 6 p. m., Con­necti­cut State Po­lice units shut down the high­way’s north­bound lanes at Exit 9. That clo­sure lasted nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the scene, re­open­ing around 9 p. m. Dis­patch re­ports in­di­cated the crash was a fa­tal­ity.

As of 10: 20 p. m., state po­lice said a re­lease about the crash wouldn’t be avail­able for sev­eral hours.
