Major crash on Route 25 closed highway
Caused delays for 3 hours
Details regarding a major crash on Route 25 Saturday afternoon were scarce later Saturday evening.
The crash, which the Connecticut Department of Transportation indicated was a rollover, happened around 3: 30 p. m. on Route 25 north between Exit 9 and Route 111. Right away, reports indicated there were injuries involved and possibly extrication needed.
Roughly two hours later, there were reports of stop and go traffic, causing delays up to half an hour, on Route 25 north.
Just before 6 p. m., Connecticut State Police units shut down the highway’s northbound lanes at Exit 9. That closure lasted nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the scene, reopening around 9 p. m. Dispatch reports indicated the crash was a fatality.
As of 10: 20 p. m., state police said a release about the crash wouldn’t be available for several hours.
