Bridgeport man killed in Greenwich crash

- By Robert Marchant

GREENWICH — Police have released the identity of a 47- year- old man who was killed in a crash on the Post Road in Cos Cob late Thursday night.

Andrew Miller, of Bridgeport, was behind the wheel of a 2008 Ford Taurus, according to police, when the car left the roadway and slammed into the side of a coffee shop. Miller later died of his injuries at Stamford Hospital.

The collision is under investigation by the Greenwich Police Department's Traffic Section. Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to contact Officer Roger Drenth at 203- 622- 8014.

Police initially said the driver was 27 years old, then corrected his age.

The crash occurred at 10: 18 p. m. Thursday, when the speeding car knocked over a tree and slammed into the side of Chocoylatte Gourmet, causing extensive damage to the car and the building.

The side of the building was breached by the car, and the inside of the store was littered with glass and bricks after the crash.

Kelly Dantas, the owner of the store that sells coffee, pastries and candy, was surveying the damage Friday morning as workers put up plywood and tarp around the damaged structure.

The store owner said she was horrified by the loss of life, and sickened by the damage to her business. Dantas, a Glenville resident, opened the store on July 15.

She bought the building this week and was preparing a big week of sales in the days before Valentine’s Day.

The building was declared unsafe by Greenwich building inspectors, police said.
