Q: What life lessons stand out most to you over the past few months?

A: One main life lesson I considered during the pandemic is understanding that our accomplishments are not defined by their outcomes or celebrations, even though they can be the most exciting part. This is especially relevant for my class. Another key lesson I have taken away from this experience is that we all have to be open to new and alternative sources of enjoyment.

Q: What’s something that people get wrong about you and your classmates based on your age?

A: A common misconception about people my age is that we spend too much time on our smartphones or other electronic devices, and are therefore disconnected from the world.

First, we don’t just spend time on our phones; we also do and have done plenty of other activities, including extracurriculars and community service, that aren’t virtual.

Also, time spent on these devices doesn’t necessarily mean we are disconnected from the world. We can gain awareness on news ranging from local to international and promote understanding and activism on major issues through social media, and stay connected with friends, family, and other members of the community through communication services ( which is especially critical during these times).

Overall, these technologies don’t replace the activities we do in the real- world; they are an alternative and an expansion.

Q: What will you miss most about home? And what are you most looking forward to?

A: I will probably miss the beauty and amenities of Westport, such as the Levitt Pavilion and the beaches,. I am looking forward to meeting new people, trying out new activities, and learning fascinating concepts at university.
