Kosta Mosessian

Kosta Mosessian entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the age of 96. He was home recovering from hip surgery when he passed peacefully with his children and beloved caregiver Katie Williams by his side. He was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1924 to Moses and Freda Mosessian. After graduating from Central High School, Kosta served our country in the U. S. Navy during WW II aboard the Destroyer Escort U. S. S. Sederstrom, stationed in the Pacific Theater.

Entering back into civilian life, Kosta was the proprietor of George’s Market in Bridgeport, CT. He operated the store for twenty- four years, after which he and his wife Margaret embarked on a new endeavor. Together, they owned and operated Greenfield Cleaners in Fairfield, CT. Kosta and his son Robert eventually expanded the successful business, relocating into a larger premises and opening two satellite stores in Bridgeport and Shelton. Kosta’s winning personalit­y made him a goodwill embassador within the Greenfield Hill community.

Kosta was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church where his mother Freda was a founding member. Kosta enjoyed traveling to Bermuda, Hawaii and Europe during his lifetime. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed socializin­g weekly with his close poker club friends.

Kosta was pre- deceased by his former wife Margaret Straborny Mosessian, his brother George Mosessian and his sister Mary Zamary. He is survived by his son Robert ( Elaine) Mosessian of Southbury, CT, his daughter Ellen ( Fred) Marcantoni­o of Bethlehem, CT, his granddaugh­ter Lori McKulsky of Middlebury, CT, his grandson Frederick ( Darla) Marcantoni­o of Oxford, CT, his great grandchild­ren Samantha and Daniel McKulsky and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank Kosta’s devoted caregivers Katie and Una for their loving support and care over the last several years.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 10 a. m. to 11 a. m. at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respect and exit without lingering. Due to COVID- 19 restrictio­ns, a private “Rite of Burial” service for the family will begin immediatel­y after calling hours with the Archpriest Romanos Malouf officiatin­g followed by interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, has been entrusted with the services. Donations may be made to St. Nicholas Church in memory of Kosta.
