John J. Krehel Jr.

John J. Krehel Jr., age 83, of Stratford, passed away on April 5, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his family. John was born in Stratford on April 17, 1937 to the late John and Mary ( Sulik) Krehel and had been lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Stratford High School and earned a BS in Engineering from Fairfield University, class of 1973. John was a retired Manufacturing Engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus # 2370, and was a lifetime member of the East End Yacht Club. John was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He dedicated his life to his family, and he will be forever remembered and missed by many. Survivors include his devoted children, Bradley Krehel and his wife Michelle of Maine, Kathleen Hallquist and her husband Jeffrey of Sandy Hook, Diane Varrone of Trumbull, and Jacqueline Ricco- Krehel of Stratford, 9 cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson ( Mike), Mallory Pagenkopf ( Drew), John Varrone III( Laura), Matthew Varrone, George Ricco IV, Jessica Ricco, Anthony Ricco ( fiancée, Zoe), Juliana Mendez ( Jeff), and Jacob Ricco, 3 great- grandchildren, Jolina, Avalyse, and Giovanna, a brother, Richard Krehel and his wife Joan, sister- in- law, Theresa Krehel and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was pre- deceased by his brothers, Charles, and Lawrence, sister, Marian Zelle, and son- in- law, John Varrone Jr. A graveside funeral service will take place on Monday, April 12th at 11: 45 a. m. meeting directly at St. John’s Cemetery 2610 Nichols Ave Stratford. Everyone in attendance must follow the current COVID- 19 guidelines, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
