John G. Strich

John Strich, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family April 6, 2021. He was born on May 14, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT to John and Margaret Bobko Strich. John grew up in Stratford, CT, and graduated from Stratford high School, class of 1956. He served in the U S Army Reserves in Connecticut and the Air National Guard in Kansas. John attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute and spent his career in the field of aviation engineering, travelling extensively. He later became an expert in infrared engineering technology. John moved to New Hampshire where he became active in many organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the Foresters club. John enjoyed dancing and loved sailing and being on the water. Surviving family members include his mother, Margaret B Strich of Stratford, brother, Richard Strich and wife Leona, and their sons, RJ and David Strich and their children of Manassas, VA, his daughter, Deborah Strich August and husband Mark of Bow, NH, and grandchildren Sarah and Aspen of Bow NH, Michael, Ben and Theodore Poniatowski of Beacon Falls, and Patrick and Sean Noble of Colorado, his step- daughter, Kerry Sally and her husband Doug of Webster, NH, and their children, Mark and Kristi Fadden. In addition to his father, John was pre- deceased by his daughters, Jennifer Noble and Michele Poniatowski. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday April 12th at 2: 00 p. m. meeting directly at St. John’s Orthodox Church 364 Mill Hill Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Everyone in attendance must follow COVID 19 guidelines and wear a mask and practice social distancing.
