Grace V. Manente

Grace “Dolly” Venezia Manente, age 87, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Michael Manente, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021 in her residence with her loving family by her side. Grace graduated from St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic School in Bridgeport. She was a lifelong Stratford resident and early on, she opened Ye Old bake shop with Gloria to share their love of baking closing after unable to meet high demands. Then started employment with General Electric Company and went on to be employed by the Town of Stratford Tax Collector. Grace went on to work at R& S Electric Supply in the billing department, having a special knack of talking to people, she went on to work for DeRosier Moving and Storage and then went on to work at West End Moving Company where she later retired after many years of service doing what she loved. Grace lived a full and fulfilling life, always squeezing in time for her grandchildren, children, family and many friends and not forgetting her kitties. She had a patience and calming air about her and loved to bowl at the Duckpin Bowling Lanes on Barnum Avenue with the Ladies League. Grace is survived by her children, Mike and wife Diane, Sherri, Christopher John, ValeryJo and husband Joe Sr, five grandchildren, Leslie, Jessy and husband Joe, Mike Jr., Joey Jr., and Danny and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Michael, Grace was also predeceased by her parents, Camillo and Josephine DelVeccio Venezia, her brothers, Pete, Johnny and Tommy, her sisters, Lil, Mimi and Annie. Due to the current health situation, all services were held privately and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello- Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. The family would like to thank Ruby, her caregiver with Executive Care, Nurse Bev and Doctor Harris with Vitas, her other son, Eddie, for the years of roadside service and for always being there for her, Dr. Prewitt and especially Dr. Amir who she thought wore cowboy boots.
