Andrew Chacho

-

Nearly 98 years young, Andrew Chacho of Monroe left us on June 20, 2021. He was born July 18, 1923 in Bethel, CT to the late Karol and Theresa Chacho. He was married to the love of his life, Cecile Gregorire Chacho for almost 70 years. Andy retired from the Bullard Company after working there for 30 years. He was also a long time school bus driver for Monroe School District.

He will be remembered as the oldest living active member of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department serving 75 years. He was also an active member of the Monroe Senior Center.

Andy had a love of fishing and spending leisure time in New Hampshire as well as traveling with his brother Karol. One never had to ask Andy twice to tell a story about growing up on his family’s farm and telling stories as only a true historian would tell. When something needed repair, he would fix it as good as new; most times unconventionally! Tinkering was his forte. Andy’s garden chair may look empty as you drive past his home on Cross Hill Road but look closer because his spirit remains.

Andy leaves a son Garry Chacho of New Hampshire and a “baby” sister, Virginia Hancock of Florida. His brothers Karol and Paul, and his sisters Irene Toth, Mary Conner, and Anna Williams predeceased him. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great- great nieces and great- great nephews to live out his legacy.

Memorial gifts to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department in his honor are greatly appreciated. Please share a memory of Andy on the website of the Spadaccino Funeral Home. Services will be private.
