Joseph Petitte, age 81 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late June Petitte, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Joe was born in Bridgeport on May 21, 1940, to the late Joseph and Catherine ( Cavallaro) Petitte. Joe was a lifetime resident of the area and was in the food business most of that time. He started working for his father at the diner at 16 and by 17 he started his own catering business. Joe’s “kitchen” was always an open door to his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his daughters; Rhonda Petitte-Carsten and husband Mike, Lenore Petitte- Cadle, and Dana Ori and husband Chris, his grandchild­ren; 1st Lt. Christophe­r John Ori Jr., ( USMC), and wife Caitlin, Joseph Petitte- Surcouf, Kira Carsten, and Alissa Carsten, his sisters; Patricia and husband Dr. Kenneth Lisi, and Linda and husband Raymond Zegarski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his son- in- law and friend, Michael Schinella, Dawn Tallo, who was always there for him, and last, his “home” for 6 years, Benchmark, and a special thanks to Justine and Theresa, and the countless others who have been there for Joe.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 9: 00 a. m. in the Parente- Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport and a 10: 00 a. m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Rd., Fairfield with a Mass of Christina Burial. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield. Please wear a mask to all services and respect social distancing.
