Thomas Douglas Sherman, age 64, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Newtown Health and Rehabilita­tion. Born in Bridgeport on March 26, 1957 he was a son of the late Ralph H. and Shirley (Jones) Sherman, Jr. Thomas was active with both the Kennedy Center and Marrakech Services, where he built many friendship­s. He enjoyed being a part of the theater club and was happy to participat­e in all of their plays and performanc­es. He participat­ed in the Special Olympics and loved to play BINGO with his housemates. Tom enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises and also loved camping at Camp Harkness in Waterford. He loved to visit the library and attend various outings put on by the group home such as dances and proms. His love of food was satisfied by attending monthly and holiday dinners at his sister’s, which he always looked forward to. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving sister, Judith Heyse and her husband Craig of Shelton and his brother, Donald Sherman and his wife Susan, also of Shelton, his aunts, Elaine Wallin of Brookfield, Helene Hall of AZ and Caroline Battaglia and her husband Phil of Easton, cherished nieces and nephews, Glenn Heyse of Ansonia, Sheryl Heyse of Salem, NH, Christophe­r Sherman of Brooklyn, NY and Laura Sherman of Melrose, MA. In addition to his parents, he was also predecease­d by his sister, Martha Sherman.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Rd., Fairfield, Section: HB. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Marrakech, Inc., 6 Lunar Drive, Woodbridge, CT 06525.
