Fairfield University welcomes first-year students to campus
FAIRFIELD — The biggest class of first-year students in the history of Fairfield University moved into residence halls on Saturday.
More than 1,250 fresh Stags enrolled at Fairfield this year. The class members hail from 26 U.S. states, plus eight other countries.
In a news release, the university boasted the incoming class’s strong academics, with an average high school GPA of 3.74 and SAT score of 1312.
“The entire enrollment team is excited to welcome the Class of 2025,” said Corry Unis, the vice president for enrollment management at Fairfield, in a statement. “This is a group that is equal part academically focused and community involved.”
Move-in started at Barlow Gate, then shifted to the Quick Center for check-in. From there, students and their families went to the dorms, before a continental breakfast, then a community barbecue in the quad.
“From the initial review, it was clear that this class was special,” said Unis, “We have no doubt that they will contribute significantly to Fairfield’s academic tradition and grow within our Jesuit mission.”
The class’s students were accepted from a record applicant pool of 12,673 potential Stags.
“Fairfield has once again seen a record number of applications from exceptional candidates,” said Jennifer Anderson, the vice president of marketing and communications, “(They were) attracted to Fairfield not only for our innovative and nationally recognized programs, but because of our strong focus on community engagement, our active alumni base, our modern facilities and our exceptional student outcomes post-graduation.”
