10 people rescued from boating accident
BRIDGEPORT— The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating after fire and police crews rescued 10 people Saturday from a sinking boat in Bridgeport Harbor.
Scott Appleby, the director of Bridgeport’s Office of Emergency Management, said that emergency crews received a call just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday about a boat in distress in Bridgeport Harbor. The report indicated that 10 individuals were on a boat that was taking on water.
Members of the Bridgeport fire and police departments arrived to find another civilian boat helping the occupants off the sinking boat. The Bridgeport Fire Department fire boat towed the boat to Dolphins Cove.
No injuries were reported, Appleby said.
