Bridgeport man shot, killed near nightclub

BRIDGEPORT — Police are investigat­ing the homicide of a Bridgeport man that occurred early Saturday.

At 1:56 a.m., multiple 911 calls and a gunshot detection system alerted police to shots being fired on the 2400 block of Main Street.

At the time, officers recovered shell casings but didn’t find a victim.

It was later discovered that Raheem Lynch, 24, of Bridgeport was a gunshot victim and was dropped off at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Police said Lynch was fatally shot just minutes after exiting the Mystique nightclub on Main Street. The shooting took place “only a few doors away from the club,” police added.

As of 1 p.m. Saturday, police are still unsure of the motive for the shooting.
