Theodore (Ted) D. Zitnay

Theodore (Ted) D. Zitnay passed away on October 31, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born October 14, 1955, in Bridgeport Conn, son of Theodore J. and June E. Zitnay. He was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticu­t School of Business and was proud of his Business Certificat­ions through APICS as well. He enjoyed following the UConn basketball teams and was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots. He also very much enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife Karen and was an active member of the Goldwing Road Riders Associatio­n for many years. He was a grateful, recovering alcoholic with AA, having remained clean and sober since 1996.

Ted is survived by his loving wife Karen of 24 years, and by his stepdaught­er Rosemarie Legen, who was a dear, true friend as well.

He was also survived by his stepson Charles Clemente and wife Lisa and their two children Jeff and Nicole, as well as his stepdaught­er Valerie, and her four children Lewis, Laura, Xander, and Gavin. He also leaves behind his brother Roger Zitnay and wife Diana and their four children, and his sister Judy Studioso and husband Steve and their two children.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 1 PM until his service begins at 2 PM at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel, 17730 highway 17 North, Hampstead. Interment will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park. For Ted’s family and friends in Massachuse­tts a memorial is being planned for December in the Fitchburg area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
