Theodore “Ted” Choka, 93 of Trumbull, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, of natural causes. He was the beloved partner of the late Lucille Westlund who he cherished for 42 years.

Ted was born on April 16, 1925, in Fairfield.

When he was 11 years old, both of his parents tragically passed away on the same day. Ted was then raised in a Boy’s Home in Pennsylvania where he enjoyed tending the fields, helping to grow the community’s food, and especially loved riding his favorite horse. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.

Ted retired from decades of service for the Fairfield Board of Education Maintenance Department. He also worked as a special police officer for the Town of Fairfield.

For all that Ted endured as a child, he made the most out of his adult life and was surrounded by people who adored him. He never had kids of his own but was always considered grandpa by Lucille’s children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his good friend, Tommy Quinn, and his favorite gang from the Dunkin’ Donuts Black Rock Turnpike Fairfield location. He also leaves behind his large family, which includes Jerry Westlund and Marlene Westlund Baumann, their children Cheryl and husband Bruce Bossio, Scott and wife Fatima Westlund, Robert and wife Tina Westlund, Laurie Baumann Tomboulides, Clifford Baumann, Jr. and wife Shawn, Carl Baumann, Sr., and wife Suzanne, and Kurt Baumann and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Deanna Westlund, Eva

Westlund, Taylor Westlund, Spencer Westlund, Nicolas Tomboulides, Carl Baumann, Jr., Keeley Baumann, Dakota Baumann, Clifford Baumann IV, Vanessa Baumann, Will, and Aubry Lee and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Theo, Wesley Westlund, Lilyana, and Sophie Baumann, all of whom he was very proud.

In addition to his life’s love, Lucille, a sister, and brother predeceased him.

The family would like to give special thanks to Tommy who stayed by Ted’s side in his final years. Tommy listened to Ted’s stories and provided unwavering companionship and care. They shared an incredible bond; Tommy was Ted’s angel on earth.

A graveside service will be held by Ted’s family and friends on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, CT 06825. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. https:// www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html
