Katherine Ann “Kit” Martelon
July 11, 2022
Katherine Ann Martelon, “Kit”, age 67, resident of Boston, Massachusetts and Milford, Connecticut, entered eternal rest on July 11, 2022.
Kit was born on January 28, 1955 in New Haven, Connecticut and was the daughter of Letitia Martelon Malone and the late George F. Martelon. She attended Lauralton Hall High School and earned a degree in Economics from Boston College. She completed her postgraduate studies at Boston University, achieving a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She was also a Certified Financial Analyst.
Kit spent over 30 years working in the banking industry serving in senior level positions, often working on a global scope, in areas such as Enterprise Risk, Credit and Portfolio management for firms such as Federal Home Loan Bank, State Street Bank, Bank of America, and Citizens Bank.
Kit’s career afforded her the opportunity to travel to many interesting places around the world and she enjoyed sharing stories of the cultures and cuisines she experienced as an international traveler. But her favorite destinations were sitting on the sand with friends at Laurel Beach in Milford, CT and her second home of Boston where she lived for over 50 years enjoying the company of friends attending music, art and other cultural events.
In recent years, Kit became a patient at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, and she developed a deep appreciation for the care and support she received from her medical team. She was grateful for the resources they made available, and she made it her mission to learn as much as she could. This also fueled her passion for volunteering, and she found great comfort in supporting fellow patient friends and participating in groups such as the Sarcoma Sunflower Brigade.
Kit is survived by her mother, Letitia M. Malone, currently of Milford, Connecticut; her sister, Cindy Eadie (husband, John) currently of Milford, Connecticut and her brother, George F. Martelon, Jr. (wife Rayellen) also of Milford, Connecticut. She is also survived by a niece, MaryKate McClain (husband Matthew) and a nephew, Timothy Martelon (wife Rebecca) and two great-nieces, Grace and Avery.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 26th in Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford, Connecticut at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Kit’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at www. dana-farber.org/gift
