Fairfield, CT — Myra Stead Lubeck, 82, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully after her battle with Dementia in Marblehead, MA on Thursday, July 14, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late James Lester Lubeck, who passed away in 2018.

Myra was born on December 7, 1940, in Yorkshire, England, to the late William Stead and Lilly Stead. She was raised and educated in Yorkshire, England. In 1958, Myra immigrated to the United States.

For most of her life, Myra lived in Fairfield, CT and Marblehead, MA. Myra’s friends and family called her the “Guv’ner”, as she was English and wanted to meet people, connect with each person she encountered and to learn about their activities and lives. To Myra, family always came first, and she was known for going the extra mile on behalf of her family, loved ones and strangers in need. She valued honesty, hard work, fairness in everything she did and devoted much time to give back to her community.

Myra believed in providing for her family. For over 47 years, Myra worked as a Flight attendant for TWA and American Airlines; winning several distinguished flying awards for actions during emergency situations, high customer service focus, low absentee rates and even had an airplane dedicated to her in 2012. Myra was also very active at Fairfield Grace Methodist Church, Fairfield Senior Center, Black Rock Yacht Club, Fayerweather Yacht Club and can be seen all around Fairfield and

Marblehead walking and socializing with people on the street and various establishments.

Myra will be remembered by the way she radiated positive energy, the curiosity, kindness, empathy, and sparkling smile she carried with her. You became your best self around Myra.

Spangler; her adoring grandchildren, Tyler Lubeck, Tucker Lubeck, Cassidy Lubeck, Peyton Lubeck, David Spangler and Harrison Spangler; her sister Maureen Loomis; her brother Malcom Stead and Mick Stead; and her cherished nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and longterm companions.
