Librada Flores

Librada Flores, 88, returned to the loving arms of the Lord on January 2, 2023, at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. She was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico to the late Alejo Pagan and Matilde Llanes. She moved to Connecticu­t many years ago where she worked and raised her family.

Librada was a dedicated laborer both at VCA and Emson Research from which she retired after 23 years of service. She was a very pious woman who had great faith in the Blessed Virgin. She was an active member of St. Anthony Church and St. Peter’s Church in Bridgeport. She was a member of the Cofradias del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and El Cursillo de Cristianda­d. She was a very humble person who gave generously to those in need whether it was clothing, food, and most importantl­y prayers. She was a courageous person who confronted life’s challenges fearlessly, this was most evident when she battled cancer and won. Her grandest accomplish­ment in life was being a tremendous mother who gave endlessly to her beautiful family.

Librada leaves behind to honor her memory her loving children Almelinda “Dolly” McLeod, Jose Flores, Anibal Flores, Carlos Nelson Flores, and Hector Braulio Flores, 10 precious grandchild­ren, and 8 dear greatgrand­children and many siblings as well as a host of friends and family that will miss her dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 4:30 - 7:00 PM at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, 4265 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06608. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, TBD. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden, CT.
