-

Ralph J. Martone Jr., age 78, of Milford, loving husband of Marianne Colonnese Martone, passed away on January 4, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Ralph was born in Bridgeport on April 21, 1944, to the late Ralph and Jennie (Dumala) Martone. Ralph was a graduate of Norwalk Technical College and Bridgeport Engineering Institute. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked in the Worldwide Inventory Control. Ralph and Marianne (“Mar!”) met at Notre Dame High School in 1962. Marrying in 1965, they proudly celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last September. Nothing made Ralph more proud than being both a Dad and Pop Pop. Ralph is survived by his 3 children ( Jeff Martone and his wife Michelle of South Windsor, Chris Martone of Milford, Sue Monschein and her husband Brian of Orange) and 6 grandchildren (Melissa, Lauren, Andrew, Nate, Leah, Emilia). Ralph will also be missed by his sister Jeanne Keating and her husband Art, nephews, nieces, and friends. Among countless others, Ralph (the guy who never liked dogs) will be greeted in heaven by Riley and her Frisbee. Ralph enjoyed many hobbies including golf, woodworking, and pizza making. Embracing lake life in Holland, MA, Ralph earned his boating license and joyfully took friends and family on boat rides around the lake, complete with a swear word or two as he parked back at the dock and Twizzlers in the glove compartment for the grandkids. The Martone Family would like to thank our loving family and friends for supporting us on the 5-year journey. We’d also like to send our special appreciation to the countless medical professionals that have cared for Ralph since the onset of his illness, especially Johanna Lasala, MD and staff, VNA nurses and therapists, 10th/11th/12th floor doctors and nurses at Smilow, and Milford Station 7 Firemen and EMT’s. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 11th at 10:30 a.m. meeting directly at St. James Church 2070 Main Street Stratford. Interment will be private. The Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. For more information or to make an online condolence please visit www.adzimafuneralhome.com . Sincere thanks to the outpatient staff at Hospital for Special Care who, against all odds, helped Ralph learn to walk again.
