Warrant: Brother of teen accused of stabbing Fairfield Prep student threatened Shelton family
DERBY — The older brother of a teen accused of fatally stabbing Fairfield Prep’s James McGrath has been ordered to have no contact with a Shelton family police say he threatened.
Shelton police on Thursday charged Raul Valle, 18, with second-degree breach of peace, a misdemeanor, related to a threat he made Jan. 3 on social media to a local family, according to his arrest warrant.
Judge Scott M. Jones said during Friday’s arraignment in state Superior Court in Derby the no contact order is a condition of Valle’s release, who posted a $500 bond, judicial records show.
Valle, who is represented by Courtney Fox with BBB Attorneys, declined to comment Friday. The Milford resident is next scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Derby on March 2.
One day before his arrest, Valle appeared before a judge at state Superior Court in Milford as a respondent for a civil protection order filed by a 33year-old Shelton woman. In the affidavit, the woman said her relative had been in an abusive relationship with Valle and at one point threatened to kill her.
In the protection order affidavit, the woman said Valle “became physical” with her relative on May 15, 2022, the day after his younger brother allegedly stabbed and killed the 17year-old McGrath at a house party in Shelton. His brother, 17-year-old Raul Elijah Valle, is facing murder and first-degree assault charges. He is free on $2 million bond.
The younger Valle is expected to next appear in state Superior Court in Milford on Feb. 1, court records show.
According to the older Valle’s arrest warrant application, a woman told Shelton police earlier this month that Valle threatened to killer her infant daughter.
The woman told police Valle messaged her on Instagram on Jan. 3 and alluded to her 22-month-old child dying, according to the warrant.
“I would beat (the woman’s husband) like a little kid,” Valle messaged the woman, according to the warrant. “I hope your miserable life is going well with the death of your sweet (child) that was your fault.”
Police noted in the warrant that the woman was “visibly shaken up over the whole situation and knows that Raul’s brother had stabbed and killed someone.”
The husband told police he didn’t want his family to stay in their home with their children that night in fear of the 18-year-old Valle, according to the warrant.
The woman said she didn’t believe Valle had a car or knew where she lived, the warrant stated.
