Albert Emil LaReau Jr., age 72, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Margaret Maurer LaReau, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on January 6, 1951, he was a son of the late Albert Emil Sr. and Emily Mastrangel­o. A U.S. Navy veteran, Al was a graduate of Central Connecticu­t State University, where he also obtained his 6th Year Degree. A very proud educator, Al began his teaching career at United Cerebral Palsy Center and retired from the Town of Stratford after 20 years of dedicated service. He loved the outdoors, and in the summer, could often be found boating on Long Island Sound and was an avid hunter and fisherman. But his greatest roles in life were that of husband and father. He loved time with his family, creating memories to last a lifetime. Al will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his devoted wife of 46 years Peggy, survivors include his loving son Tracy LaReau, a sister Christine Curtis and her husband Wayne, aunt, Anna Cipos, mother-inlaw, Orissa Maurer, sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Laaser and her husband Reinhard and William Maurer and his wife Panagiota, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and colleagues. A memorial service celebratin­g Al’s life will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenienc­e of the family.
