Eva Jessie (McIntyre) Hornak, age 97, passed peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of her late husband Stephen S. Hornak. Eva was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 17, 1925, and graduated in 1943 from Harding High School, later working at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT. After having 11 children, she worked as a part-time librarian at the Monroe Public Library, later retiring to Rindge, NH. More recently she resided in Southbury, CT and made many new friends in her retirement community.

Eva enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening, and cooking, and was an avid reader. She loved singing in the church choir, even singing for the USO. Eva was active in several church groups including serving as secretary of the Rosary Altar Society. After retiring to New Hampshire, she and her husband often traveled and enjoyed taking cruises.

She is survived by her loving children, Susan Soucy, Patricia (Steve) Fazekas, Mary (Greg) Magrane, William (Sheryl), Andrew (Marylou), Anne (Allen) Ljungquist, Peter, David (Patricia), Anthony (Heather), and many grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren and sisters Elizabeth Shroll, Laura Boehm, and Shirley Powell and brother James. In addition to her husband Stephen, she was predecease­d by her brother John, sister Mary Velidow, and her sons Stephen and Robert (Maria).

Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at Spadaccino Funeral Home in Monroe, CT on Friday, February 17, 2023.
