Mary Ann Fell

Mary Ann Fell, nee Powers, beloved mother, grandmothe­r, wife and sister, passed away peacefully in her sleep this week at the age of 80 in Pasadena, California.

Mary Ann was born in Bridgeport, Connecticu­t to parents Lucy and Alex Powers. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel College in White Plains, New York (now Pace University). She accepted an assistants­hip at Boston College where she taught human anatomy to medical students for two years while pursuing a graduate degree. In 1966, she accepted a position with Merck Pharmaceut­icals in New Jersey. In 1967, she married Dr. Thomas Fell Jr.. They eventually settled in Glendale, California where they raised their three children.

Along with raising her family, Mary Ann loved teaching. She taught human anatomy to nursing students at Glendale Community College for over 15 years. Being an active volunteer in her community was important to Mary Ann. She belonged to the Assistance League of Glendale, PEO Chapter GD, the La Cañada Thursday Club and the Chevy Chase Garden Club. However,

Mary Ann’s main focus and passion for over 20 years was serving as co-chairman of the St. Bede Skidettes, who provide assistance to the shelters and food banks of Los Angeles.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas W. Fell, Jr. She is survived by her three children: Tom (Leslie), Emma and Cathy (Clint); five grandchild­ren: Chelsea, Ryan, Emie, Carson and Dalton; and her sister, Carol.

A celebratio­n of Mary Ann’s life will be held on March 25, at 10 AM at St. Bede’s Church, 215 Foothill Boulevard, La Cañada, CA 91011.
