Port Orange --- Hildegard Martha Balog, died on March 17, 2023 at Advent Health’s Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. She was born on August 6, 1934 in Kosice, Slovakia. On September 16, 1946, she, her parents, Wilibald and Helen, her sister, Edith, and brothers, George and Otto, arrived in the United States and all proudly became United States citizens.

She married her beloved husband, Nicholas George on November 8, 1952. He predecease­d her on April 3, 2017. They spent the majority of their lives in Bridgeport, CT.

Nick and Hilde were well-known for their annual family backyard Connecticu­t cookouts. Those events were only rivaled by Hilde’s linguine and clam sauce dinners that continued to give her family much joy.

In addition to raising her children, Debra Ann and Nicholas Alan, she worked in the insurance industry prior to retiring and moving to Florida.

Since moving to Florida in 1995, Hilde was a faithful member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Port Orange,

FL. For several years she served as president of the local chapter of Catholic Council of Women.

She is survived by her brother Otto Patzelt, children: Debi and her husband, Dave Madison; Nick and his wife, Pat and grandchild­ren Sara, Kevin, Andrew and Christophe­r.

Her Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, March 22nd at 8:30 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, followed by her burial at Woodland Cemetery, both in Port Orange, FL.
